three of a kind

Note. One of these three is the original, "natural" color, two of them have been digital altered. I'm interested in the different moods and stories they each tell...I think they're quite different and curious. Click on them to see them larger.

friendly reminder

I took this photo in NYC in 2002 (I think it was 2002), but I only just rediscovered it today. It still fits, it's still timely, and it's still good advice.

I think I'll keep this in mind as I begin this next adventure...

family photos

Annie Leibovitz's photograph of The Dunne Family:
Dominick Dunne, Griffin Dunne, John Gregory Dunne, and Joan Didion

Family, writers, filmmakers, stories - it all stays in the family.

Leibovitz wrote about the responsibility of photographing one's own family, about the intimacy and trust, and the potential for exposure. While her photographs of her family may seem more "candid," her portraits always seem to reveal so much about her subjects, another kind of intimacy and trust. Especially her portraits of other families, like the Dunne's, who have many layers, both public and private.

The threads that connect me to this photograph are many. I'm just glad there was a postcard of it I could take home.
