Album Watch

I can't wait for Neko Case's new album. Her voice is so soulful and haunting. So wonderful!

busy, busy bee

It's been a crazy few weeks with the end of the quarter coming up fast and trying to finish up projects and grade papers. I have been finding some really great websites though, so I thought I'd share a few here.

Pumpkin Goodness

That's a mountain of pumpkin chocolate goodness right there. Though I fear the ones on the bottom might be getting a little squished...

Public Media Camp

I'm at Public Media Camp in Santa Cruz. It's very similar to my beloved Rootscamp, which is in DC on Dec 13-14. We're just setting up the schedule now, but it looks like there will be some great sessions happening today.

Baroque Pugh

My BFF sent this to me this morning. Which is all too appropriate because Lulu is not only an aficionado of Baroque style art and furniture, but she's been licking her paws obsessively and driving me nuts.

Chicago's Own

G sent this to me today with the subject line "Bookend?" - which I think is quite appropriate for the "Somewhere Between..." Chicago project. It makes me want to go back even more now.

I Hear America Singing

I Hear America Singing
by Walt Whitman

I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear,
Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong,
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work,
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deckhand
singing on the steamboat deck,
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing as he stands,
The wood-cutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morning, or
at noon intermission or at sundown,
The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of
the girl sewing or washing,
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
The day what belongs to the day—at night the party of young fellows,
robust, friendly,
Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
